Second Sunday of Lent
Last Sunday, the first Sunday of Lent, the reading told of the strength of the opposition of the world to the revelation of the Son of God. We looked to Jesus as we wrestled with our own temptations, those imposed on us as well as those that come from within us. This Sunday we look to the internal struggles within a faith community, faith versus works as the means to be in relationship with God.
As we settle into the rhythm of this Lenten Season, how has your Lent begun? My hope is that in some way you have found the freedom from world matters to be able to spend a little more time intentionally strengthening your relationship with God. We are all different, which is exactly as God intended, so how and where we find it best to be open to God will be also different. It may be here in St Anne’s chapel, in community doing evening prayer, or over zoom for morning or night prayer, putting aside time at home to read your bible, praying as you go for a walk......the list is endless. The important thing, just like any relationship, is giving your time to it.
Personally, being in the hills is time with God for me, and maybe it is the same for you. If it is then you may like to join us on the March 14th at “The Hut” (Porters Ski Access Rd). In the morning we will spend time reflecting on psalms, with time after lunch to walk, rest, read or reflect. We will finish with Eucharist, followed by a BBQ before heading home. Check out the noticeboard for more details.
God Bless you
From the Vicar
Every April 25th we pay our respects to Australian and New Zealand soldiers who fought in World War I, at Gallipoli in Turkey. One of the best ways we can show respect to our fallen soldiers is by understanding the breadth of Anzac history.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows (Psalm 23)
We are all called to accept Jesus and proclaim the Good News of the Gospel to all people.
